People getting mad about Firefox switching to using hardware acceleration for video playback because they think "hardware acceleration" is a form of DRM is basically the browser equivalent of people freaking out because some random social media platform's terms of service says they own your posts, then when you read what the ToS in question actually says it's literally just "you grant us the right to show your posts to other people".

🇺🇸 Before purchasing the iconic ICQ Messenger from Mirabilis, AOL Inc. had already developed its own internet messaging tool. Released in May 1997 as a stand-alone download for Microsoft Windows, AIM (AOL Instant Messenger) quickly became the go-to platform for online communication. Created by American Online Inc., AIM used the OSCAR and TOC protocols to connect users in real time, becoming a cultural phenomenon by the late 1990s.
💾 At its peak, AIM had the largest share of the instant messaging market in North America, particularly in the United States, where it held 52% of the market as of 2006. This figure excludes other AOL-related instant messaging software like ICQ and iChat. AIM's main competitors included ICQ (which AOL acquired in 1998), Yahoo! Messenger, and MSN Messenger. AOL had a notable rivalry with PowWow and Microsoft, sparking the "chat wars" in 1999.
🚶‍♂️ The AIM mascot, designed by JoRoan Lazaro, debuted with the first release in 1997. This yellow stickman-like figure, known as the "Running Man," appeared on all AIM logos and wordmarks and was always featured at the top of the buddy list.
👩‍🎓🧑‍🎓 AIM was particularly popular among teens and college students in the United States and beyond. Its away message feature allowed users to share their whereabouts, thoughts, and plans with friends, making it a staple of daily digital interaction. AIM wasn't just a messaging app; it was a way of life.
📉 Despite its early success, AIM's popularity began to decline in the 2010s. The rise of Gmail's Google Talk, the advent of SMS, and the explosive growth of social networks like Facebook led to a decrease in AOL subscribers. AIM's fall from grace is often compared to other once-dominant services like Myspace.
📆 In June 2015, AOL was acquired by Verizon Communications, which later merged AOL and Yahoo into Oath Inc. Unfortunately, on December 15, 2017, AIM was discontinued, marking the end of an era.
💔 Though AIM is no longer with us, its impact on digital communication remains unforgettable. It paved the way for the instant messaging services we rely on today, leaving behind a legacy of nostalgia and innovation.

I'm going to be staying in motel for bit and I'd like a recommendation for a good vpn service that will protect me while I'm there since I will be using the free wifi service provided.
If anyone recommendations for a vpn service that is either free or inexpensive, but provides great protection please share it with me.
The most important thing to me is protection while having to be connected to the motel wifi because I know how vulnerable and open that can make me to bad actors.
So please if you know of something let me know.

Youtube keeps randomly hiding my comments and replies for no reason, I don't know how to work around that because none of the comments that get hidden have anything in common (I'm not "spamming", I'm not swearing, I'm not using "ad-unfriendly words", I'm not talking about any "ad-unfriendly subjects", the videos I'm commenting on are completely tame, the people I'm replying to aren't spamming or bots) and at this point I'm just assuming comments are straight-up broken because of that.

Introduction
Overview of A2 Hosting
When considering web hosting providers, A2 Hosting often comes up as a distinctive choice. Known for its speed and reliability, A2 Hosting caters to a diverse range of users—from bloggers to large enterprises. Their commitment to performance is backed by a suite of features designed to offer not just hosting, but a robust online experience. What sets A2 Hosting apart? Let me simplify it for you:

Using A2 Hosting has truly allowed me to focus on what I love—creating content—without the worries of server downtimes.
History of A2 Hosting
Founded in 2001, A2 Hosting began with a clear mission: to provide a top-tier web hosting experience. What started as a small startup has evolved into a significant player in the hosting industry over the years. Here are some pivotal milestones in A2 Hosting's journey:
2001: A2 Hosting was established in Ann Arbor, Michigan, mainly targeting developers.

Here are a few highlights about their speed capabilities:
SSD Storage: A2 utilizes solid-state drives that drastically improve data retrieval times compared to traditional HDDs.

A2 Hosting Plans
Shared Hosting
When it comes to affordability and ease of use, A2 Hosting's Shared Hosting plans are a fantastic option, especially for beginners. I still remember my initial foray into web hosting; I started with a shared plan simply because it fit my budget and needs perfectly. With shared hosting, multiple websites share the same server resources, which is both cost-effective and simple to manage. Here are some key features of A2 Hosting's Shared Hosting:
Low Starting Price: Their plans are competitively priced, making it accessible to many.
Free Site Migration: A2 offers migration assistance from your existing host, saving you the hassle.

As my website grew, I found myself needing more control and resources, leading me to explore A2 Hosting's VPS Hosting options. Virtual Private Servers offer dedicated resources within a shared environment, providing better performance and greater customization. Here's what I discovered about their VPS Hosting plans:
Flexible Resources: You can scale your resources according to your site's evolving needs.
Root Access: Ideal for developers like me who want complete control over their server's configurations.
Enhanced Security: A private environment adds an extra layer of security for sensitive data.

One of the aspects of A2 Hosting that truly stood out for me is their enhanced security features. In today’s digital landscape, safeguarding your website is crucial, and A2 Hosting takes this concern seriously. From the moment I started my journey with them, I felt reassured by the various security measures they implemented. Here are some highlights of their security features:
Free SSL Certificates: A2 provides free SSL certificates, which are essential for encrypting data and boosting customer trust.
HackScan Protection: Their proactive monitoring helps detect vulnerabilities and block potential threats before they cause harm.

Knowing these measures were in place allowed me to focus on my content without constantly worrying about potential breaches.

Navigating the world of web hosting can be intimidating, especially if you’re new to it. That’s why A2 Hosting’s user-friendly control panel is yet another reason I appreciate their service. I don't remember what stuff I downloaded or what settings I disabled but I don't get any of those tumblr notifications 😆
Ooh, that sounds ideal tbh :'D I could get used to following more people if I wasn't constantly reminded how many posts I haven't seen. And my God, I wish I figured out how to get this on my phone - I have ALL notifications off but no matter how many tutorials I go through, I cannot get rid of those tiny little numbers next to the app icons. Not just for Tumblr but for everything, I don't want to see how many unread e-mails I have, how many messages I haven't checked, I want to check all these things on my terms at time of my choosing, will we be ever free from these constant reminders how avoidant we've become due to the hyperconectivity of our time-

Actually, what is or isn't legal depends on the laws of your country. Here, for example, it is illegal to copy dvds etc if you circumvent copy protection mechanisms, regardless of ownership of the physical media in question. Whether that makes sense or what counts as a copy protection mechanism is unfortunately a different story.
Also, you can even get external floppy disc drives you can connect via usb. Any analog media like vhs or audio tapes or [insert english word for the thing that came before cds that's making a comeback now and can't remember the name of] can be digitized.
You could apparently even reroute the speakers of your computer to it's microphone to record whatever audio is playing on your computer. You simply need a cable with headphone jacks at both ends and recording software.
you guys know you can get USB connectable CD, dvd, and blu-ray players right. and you can buy external hard drives with crazy amounts of space for an amount of money that would make the average person from 2009’s head explode bc of how cheap it is. and if you do this and get ripping software such as handbrake for CDs and DVDs and makeMKV for blurays you can both own a physical copy of whatever media you want and make it accessible to yourself no matter where you are. do you guys know this
